
SOMPOT CHIDGASORNPONGSE (b.1980), Boat, grew up in Samutprakarn, a province near Bangkok, Thailand. In 2001, with Panu Trivej, he co-wrote a critically acclaimed play "You're Gorgeous, Dear," and won Sod-Sai Award for Best Play and Best Script. After graduating with a bachelor degree in architecture and receiving Best Thesis Award from Chulalongkorn University, he began working in the film industry; both local and international.
His personal shorts were shown at many film festivals in various countries. Along with Thunska Pansittivorakul, he won top PPP prize in Pusan International Film Festival 2005, Korea, for a film proposal "Heartbreak Pavilion" (produced by Apichatpong Weerasethakul). In 2007, he was selected as one of the twelve international filmmakers to join Cityzooms:Hannover project in Germany. He's currently an MFA candidate in Film/Video at California Institute of the Arts.
