SOMPOT CHIDGASORNPONGSE (b.1980), Boat, grew up in Samutprakarn, a province near Bangkok, Thailand. In 2001, with Panu Trivej, he co-wrote a critically acclaimed play "You're Gorgeous, Dear," and won Sod-Sai Award for Best Play and Best Script. After graduating with a bachelor degree in architecture and receiving Best Thesis Award from Chulalongkorn University, he began working in the film industry; both local and international.
He worked as an assistant director in many shorts and feature films by Apiphatpong Weerasethakul. Along with Thunska Pansittivorakul, he won top PPP prize in Pusan International Film Festival 2005, Korea, for a film proposal "Heartbreak Pavilion" (produced by Apichatpong Weerasethakul). His personal shorts were also shown at film festivals in various countries. He recently graduated from a MFA Film/Video program at California Institute of the Arts, and is currently working on his first feature film "Are We There Yet?".
